about

"This is a rare occurrence, but I listened to this tape three times before I ever wrote any words about it, because I felt like it has to sink in more than some other releases. I'm still struggling to find the right words to describe this, but I can tell you that it's excellent. Post-punk and dark vibes combine in a way that is not quite goth, but is just fuckin' dark... you know what I mean? It's like when the WIPERS released 'Youth of America' and everyone realized 'Oh, these motherfuckers are definitely not fucking around.' The four songs on Side A are all flawless, energetic, tense guitar-driven blasts of desperation. Side B is a side-long reggae-based version of the first song on Side A, which doesn't always hit the mark, but does a better job of it than most bands would given the chance. Great tape."

-Maximum Rocknroll, June 2015

"Jagged U-turns of rhythm crashing against the broken mask of screams, becoming melodic ants that you just cannot get rid of…These images start to pulsate around my brain as I blast the Spitting Image tape entitled Icon Alive..."

-CVLT NATION, February 2015

"All the bands who want to draw from '90s grunge and college rock need to listen to this. And all the bands who want to play dreary and boring goth punk but can't seem to remember how to make bleak music sound punk need to listen to this. And the people who just generally want an example of how to positively use effects pedals for guitars are welcome to give this a spin as well. Reno, you're doing a good job right now.
