Just back from outta the way
where I've been well I couldn't say
these beings torched my flag
I built a home; they razed
Stumbled, fell, and saw
the path found in between
Just back from outta the way
forgot to close the gate
these demons torched my flag
rode in and razed the estate
Just back from outta the way
where I've been well I couldn't say
these demons torched my flag
salted my earth
my well's churning with waste
These beings calling
a scar was left so I believe
The demons' quelling needs
a surrender so complete
current washing over
revealing finer form
in all white sun and arid sheen
The demon's gone
purging going on
love on a terror for the free
on our way as angels
instinctive revelation
in all white sun and arid sheen
These beings called it
love on a terror for the free
"Reno, NV’s Spitting Image call themselves 'a punk band from a basement in the high desert on the west coast,' and of all the one-sentence biographies bands offer up on the internet, that’s one of the more perfect ones I’ve seen. With the internet’s huge presence in music, bands are sounding decreasingly regional, but if I had to guess what punk would sound like influenced by life in a west coast desert, it’d probably sound a lot like Spitting Image. Of course there’s other bands doing the desert punk thing, like Arizona’s Destruction Unit, but while those guys are often drenched in noise, Spitting Image have more classic punk to their sound, complete with aggressive snot-nosed vocals. Picture a darker, more psychedelic version of the Dead Boys and you might get an idea."

"Two songs from this Reno band. Moody, emotive post-punk, heavy on the reverb. Imagine the sound of Revolution Summer was channeling the GUN CLUB, or maybe the ESTRANGED if they listened to more IGNITION and less KILLING JOKE. The A-side is the more upbeat, driving tune, while "We Begin" begins with a riff that could have come from Loose Nut-era BLACK FLAG before flipping the script to lurching, gothic sludge. Good stuff."

"Imagine if Nation Of Ulysses were from the desert and you’ll have an idea about Spitting Image’s sound. They have a very Northwestern post-punk sound mixed with spacey desert rock on this record. These Reno boys have been playing for a while now and getting better and better by the release. 'Love on a Terror' is a mid-paced, post-punk song with a lot of angst that crawls to a near six-minute end. 'We Begin' is a bit more intense and spacey sounding. I saw these guys play last year and was super impressed by their live intensity. Spitting Image is doing punk rock right... Buy this record."
